Going back to its roots in the 80s, Shincheonji Church of Jesus Christ started with humble beginnings in a temple of Bisan Dong in An-Yang city in 1984. The main emphasis as a church body is to centre your life of faith around the Bible while nurturing members to be guided along this as a moral compass to live by.
The church teaches the contents of the Bible with a special focus on the prophecies written in Revelation. Growth has been explosive, seeing a rise of 1,666% since the time it was founded to now where there are 135 branch churches in 19 countries across the globe.
To spread their doctrine, the church has opened up theological wānanga by the name of "Zion Christian Mission Centre". First starting in 1990, these centres have expanded to 400 nationally and internationally. The church also has websites in Korean and English with materials to educate believers and gives other content such as doctrine comparison.
Alongside this, Shincheonji has a strong focus on loving your neighbours. Fast forward to 2003, Shincheonji opened up a volunteer organisation which has been transforming the social culture in South Korea as well as helping a variety of tāngata.
